Kansas gets about $5 million in COPS funding

Commentary

According to the Wichita Eagle in an Associated Press article, Kansas gets 5$ million in grants for the hiring of police officers in 10 cities. Source.

So, Kansas, whose former governor is in the Obama Cabinet, and the current governor is a turn-coat Republican turned Democrat, is awarded money under the grant program Community Oriented Policing Services, commonly called COPS. But the rub comes when the grant money is used up. Then, what do the ten cities do with the cops on board due to the grant money? Do the cities fire them, or dig up the money to retain them?

It is hopeful that the Kansas legislature will turn down this grant money as it will be costly for the cities, and possibly the state, which may be asked to supply the funding to retain them if the cities can not do so.

This blog will be watching to see what happens when the gravy train runs dry.

Only 58 members of a lop-sided Democratic-controlled Senate approved of a provision mandating that states give full faith and credit to each other's gun-carry permits. The laws of forty-eight states, at least in theory, allow their peaceable citizenry to carry guns in public for self-defense. Forty of these states either require no license to do so, or issue such licenses as a matter of routine upon meeting basic qualifications. Even in the small minority of hold-out states, gun carry licenses are often available depending on one's residence. Senator Boxer's Marin County neighbors cannot carry a gun to defend themselves, but her constituents in Fresno and Bakersfield suffer no such disability if they dot their i's and cross their t's. Both Kansas Senators, Brownback and Roberts, voted in favor of the amendment as did Senator Bond of Missouri. Senator Claire Mccaskill voted against it.

Are the Democrats Total Idiots?

When I check the news the first thing in the morning, I think I have awakened in the Twilight Zone. The administration has taken over banks, the insurance industry, the auto industry—even firing the former CEO of GM, and now attempting to force universal health insurance on us. They promise that we will not lose our present health insurance if we are satisfied with it, however they have made many promises they have broken. So, what assurance do we have they won’t break this promise also? We don’t!

Now as if the Democrat progressives have not already jumped the tracks of financial sanity, they have now increased the national minimum wage to $7.25 per hour which is higher than the minimum of 30 states. This will mean higher operating costs for thousands of small businesses who will now be forced to lay off younger inexperienced workers, many students working their way through college, and many from poor neighborhoods. In my 22 years working for a state Department of Labor, I’ve seen this very thing happen every time the minimum is raised.

It also frustrates the supply and demand for workers, and affects wages a part of the way up the lower range of other workers. As those below the present minimum, are raised, those already making the new minimum or more will also be raised.

The so-called stimulus moneys have primarily gone to states that voted for Obama. Occupations that favor unions, the radical environmental movements, and other Democratic and progressive projects have received the major portion of funds already spent. But, these are failing to decrease the unemployment rate and of stopping the continual laying off.

If this trend of spending by clueless Democrats continues, I predict the unemployment rate will be around 11 to 13% by the first of the year 2010. This will be political fuel for Republicans in the off year election next year.

(I was doing research into how the ivy league universities became secular and I ran across this article posted on WorldNet Daily, June 30, 2007)

How did the eight so-called "Ivy League" schools – Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell and Dartmouth – go from being training grounds for Christian missionaries and ministers and respected citadels of higher education to what they are now – propaganda factories for every leftist, perverted, radical, tyrannical, failed ideology known to mankind? – Marxism, Darwinism, Freudianism, Higher Criticism, communism, multiculturalism, relativism, naturalism, positivism, socialism, liberalism, egalitarianism, feminist studies, gay studies, transgender studies, transvestite studies, outcome-based education, radical environmentalism, etc.

Did you know that America's oldest and most venerated colleges and universities like Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth were founded by the Puritans? Yes, those same Puritans who along with the Pilgrims were devout Christians and the original founders of America. What do we remember about the Puritans? Now, thanks in large part to the false prophets called "professors" of the Ivy League schools, we equate the Puritans inseparably with the Salem Witch Trials of 1692-95 where between 175-200 people were imprisoned, and, tragically, 20 innocent people were given the death penalty for allegedly being a "witch" based solely on the testimony of a few hysterical, emotionally unstable adolescent girls. This incident was indeed a dark chapter of history that has nevertheless been hyped up beyond reason by the secular left to erase the memory of the Puritans from the marketplace of ideas and from American history, from which they remain banished, even until this day. This was the beginning of the deterioration of education which is now the controlling factor of education in our grade, middle, and high schools. The education system controlled by secular progressives, erroneously called liberals by conservatives, has produced most of our leftist journalists and educators. The progressives teach against conservatism, family, and Judeo-Christian values. Is it any wonder our children educated in the institution of this world are at variance with their parents and think them as antiquated and irrelevant to the world today.

This is why our electorate today is uneducated to the real issues, and naive about the goals and ideals of the progressives, who are creating a world of submissive unquestioning slaves for the new world order.

Democrats are buying votes with our tax money

What has been obvious to many Republicans from the beginning of the Democrat victory, with the 2006 congressional off-year election and culminating in the general election in November 2008, the Democrats plan on a complete takeover of the U.S. government. They began immediately to ensure the continuation of Democrat control in subsequent elections by buying votes.

We have bailed out banks, insurance companies, purchased two auto manufacturing companies, Giving stimulus packages (which are not working), and now talking about another stimulus, helping moms with taxpayer money to go to college, increasing aid to college students, etc.

Now we find that more stimulus money is going to the states which voted for Obama. And it has happened openly. That takes a lot of brass, but if the Democrats believe their vote buying will work, why not? This is the arrogance of a controlling cabal!

Billions in aid go to areas that backed Obama in '08

WASHINGTON — Billions of dollars in federal aid delivered directly to the local level to help revive the economy have gone overwhelmingly to places that supported President Obama in last year's presidential election.

That aid — about $17 billion — is the first piece of the administration's massive stimulus package that can be tracked locally. According to the U.S. National Debt Clock, the national debt at 12:35 pm on July 11, 2009 reached $11,533,349,060,257.17. That is, 11 trillion 500 billion plus. This makes the mind go blank.

Now, due to complaints from the press, the Obama administration is proposing aid to small business. But, I have a feeling as more and more Independents lose faith in the administration; some Democrats will also follow. Maybe this will increase the number of Republicans in both the House and the Senate after the election of November, 2010. Let’s hope so.

So many Americans are buying guns, including ammunition, that ammunition for popular revolver and semi-automatic hand guns is scarce.

Some people claim that we have no worry as Candidate Obama said he was for private ownership of guns. However, Candidate Obama said a lot of things that he has gone back on once he ascended the throne of the Presidency.

Attorney General Eric Holder has publicly stated he is in favor of banning the sale of automatic rifles, and I believe he will try to deliver on his statement.
He advocated federal licensing of handgun owners, a three-day waiting period on handgun sales, rationing handgun sales to no more than one per month, banning possession of handguns and so-called "assault weapons" by anyone under age 21, a gun show restriction bill that would have given the federal government the power to shut down all gun shows, and national gun registration (source).

The Declaration of Independence

On This Independence Day---

This post will be a little longer than most as it contains the entirety of the Declaration of Independence less the signatories. We should all read it and compare it with what is going on in Washington today, replacing King George as the abuser of Freedom and collector of unconstitutional taxes, many as taxation without representation.

of the Thirteen United States of America

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has affected to render the military independent of and superior to civil power.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian savages, whose known rule of warfare, is undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have we been wanting in attention to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, enemies in war, in peace friends.

We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do. Today’s Liberals are Not Really Liberals

Let’s get this straight! Today’s so-called liberals are far from the classic liberals we knew from fifty years ago. The liberals today are in the far-left, more properly referred to as “progressives.” Progressives have been the ones responsible from the beginning of the Constitutional United States for a gradual departing from the Constitution itself until today we are rapidly destroying it.
“Classical liberalism (also known as traditional liberalism[1], laissez-faire liberalism[2], and market liberalism[3] or, outside Canada and the United States, sometimes simply liberalism) is a form of liberalism stressing individual freedom, free markets, and limited government. This includes the importance of human rationality, individual property rights, natural rights, the protection of civil liberties, individual freedom from restraint, equality under the law, constitutional limitation of government, free markets, and a gold standard to place fiscal constraints on government[4] as exemplified in the writings of John Locke, Adam Smith, Ludwig von Mises, David Hume, David Ricardo, Voltaire, Montesquieu and others. As such, it is the fusion of economic liberalism with political liberalism of the late 18th and 19th centuries.[2] The "normative core" of classical liberalism is the idea that laissez-faire economics will bring about a spontaneous order or invisible hand that benefits the society,[5] though it does not necessarily oppose the state's provision of some basic public goods with what constitutes public goods being seen as very limited.[6] The qualification classical was applied retroactively to distinguish it from more recent, 20th-century conceptions of liberalism and its related movements, such as social liberalism.[7] Classical liberals are suspicious of all but the most minimal government[8] and object to the welfare state[9].

Our recent progressive presidents were Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and presently, Barack Obama. President Obama is, according to the Russian Newspaper, Pravda, is bringing Marxism to the U.S. with amazing speed.
It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people. Read article in Pravda.

Progressives are supported by unions, gays, feminists, pro-abortionists, and promote universal health care, radical environmental programs, and a strong central government.
Classical Liberals? No way. They are radical far-left progressives that want to destroy Capitalism and replace it with Socialism, pure and simple. Along with this change, they will gain total control of our lives from the time we rise until the time we retire at night. It seems like we saw this before in the former Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and presently in the Islamic nations.
