A Moment of Decision for Americans on Health Care

I just heard President Obama deliver a speech trying to convince the Republicans, Independents, Conservative Democrats, and the American Public, that his modified health care is what the people want, and congress should pass it with an up or down vote, i.e., the nuclear option: conciliation--50 plus one vote in the senate.

No. He just attended the summit with the Republicans and he did not hear a word they said to him. Adding a point of two they suggested is not 'bi-partisan.' He said they debated the bill over and over. Not true. The Republicans were shut out, and in some cased the doors were shut against them.

Polls now definately show that the majority of Americans want to either start over from scratch, or drop it altogether. Yet, he and the progressive Democrats still want to jam it down the throats of Americans.

The President presents a special burden to Christians in this country. We are asked in scripture to pray for him, which I do daily. I do not require my president or congress to agree with me on everything, even if on only a few things. What really bothers me is that I can no longer trust anything my government or the president tells me.

I am a former Democrat, now 78, who quit the party some years ago as they 1) no longer represent the 'classic liberalism' of our forefathers, 2) they have been hijacked by progressives, 3) they have resorted to misleading and or outright lying about issues, and 4) they no longer seem to listen to or have any respect for those who placed them there.

Consequently, I no longer want our government to do anything more for me or to me. I can no longer afford my government. Most have to be removed this November, most Democrats and those Republicans who do not have the cajones to speak out against the chicanery in Washington.

But, good may come out of this. We may actually be able to clean house, as I am beginning to see others as fed up as I am. And after we toss them out, we need to bring charges against them for illegal legislation passed against the principles of the Constitution. Do we have the guts to do this?

The Progressive Goal for America

Commentary

It takes time for one to really understand the import of the proposed health bill in the senate. But, after reading parts of the bill and listened to, or read from articles, of those who have read different portions, and analyzed them, one comes to some startling conclusions. It has taken me awhile to realize that some who have been on talk radio, or on FOX news, and other media who have revealed the intentions of those behind the bill, are telling the truth in warning us about the dire ramifications of the bill. The goal of those now in power fully intend to turn our democratic republic into a socialist state.

It is not about health care. It does nothing about health care. It will still leave millions uninsured. What is will do is to expand government that will eventually control all aspects of our lives. The so-called global warming hoax is a part of the present government’s design to tax and control all use of energy, the foundation of all production, which will put all manufacturing, shipping, and final end use of all products we need and want totally under government control.

Those now in power must know by this time from polls and the wishes of the electorate, that their chances of re-election are in doubt. But, as universal health care is a religion of the left, and only care about getting the health bill passed, because once passed, it will be here to stay. Will conservatives, who may be elected to replace the socialists in our congress be able to repeal the bill, and other laws that will be passed to pay for the provisions of the bill? Experts think this will not be possible. We must remember that millions will be the beneficiaries of the ‘sharing of the wealth’ from the rich to the poor, represented by ACORN, pro-abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood, NARAL, etc. People by the millions may riot if their entitlements are taken away.

Make no mistake about how all of this may involve you. You will be taxed, whether rich or poor. Eventually, taxes will have to be raised on the middle class as well as the rich. Value added taxes will be assessed on every item or grown or manufactured; services will be taxed. The inflation that will result in the Fed printing money will be an added invisible tax on everyone buying or using any goods or services. If they impose wage and price controls, serious shortages will result, especially on perishables such as food and motor fuels. Instruments may be attached to your cars limiting how many miles you may be able to drive.

State legislatures are beginning to realize the danger to their states that will come from the health bill and other federal legislation, and are preparing for it. At least 35 states have introduced legislation this year asserting their sovereign power, guranteed under the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Tenth Amendment reads as follows: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Some have passed laws stating that firearms and ammunition manufactured, shipped, and used in their states will not be subject to federal law. This will no doubt be challenged in federal courts. Some states may then resort to seceding from the union. This will then result in further court action and maybe military intervention. And it may very well come to that. then the military will have to make some decisions whether to obey the constitution, or to obey unconstitutional orders given to them.

This bill is a total fraud. We have been lied to so much, we can not take any promises to heart. It is designed to take money from you and give it to someone else. The solution of necessity must lie in the immediate future. The health bill must NOT be passed! That is the bottom line. We must all take action where we can.

Cap & Trade more than devastating on our economy–it is about total control.

The Obama Administration, with the help of far-left Democrats in congress, is establishing control over our industries one by one. First the banking industry. Second the automobile industry, and now over the energy industries. Soon the coming nanny state, if not stopped, will control every aspect of our lives.

The Cap and Trade Energy and Climate Control bill that passed the House of Representatives is designed to control the industries that provide the core of all manufacturing extending to our homes that are heated and cooled by energy. The estimated cost to the ultimate consumer is all over the map, but it will be much higher than the government say it will be.

Taxes are proposed on soft drinks, increased taxes on liquor, tobacco, and a long list of items commonly purchased at the drug and grocery store. Increases in license fees are being considered, i.e., marriage, business, drivers, etc. Most of these taxes potentially discussed by the Democrats will hurt the poor and middle class much more than the wealthy.

Additionally Universal Health Care will increase taxes, costs, and will include rationing. Citizens of England, Canada, and other countries with universal health care come to the US to get treatment refused them in their native countries. Documented cases of some of the elderly in Canada and England have died from either refused or delayed treatment. Do we want the same here?

Finally, it may result in curtailing the rights of all of us under the First and Second Amendments.

All of this is making the congressional election of November 2, 2010, with at least 36 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate being contested. Elections will also be held for all 435 seats, representing the 50 U.S. states. Elections also will be held for the delegates from the District of Columbia and four of the five U.S. territories (info from Wikipedia).

In future posts, I will try to find and post a list of conservative pro-life candidates that will be running in the 2010 off-year election.
